I would like to change the username and password that I use to login to the hosting account portal, but I can't find where to do it. (If the username is not changeable, then can I at least the password?) Also, if I change that password, will that automatically change the password on the default FTP account that gets automatically created with the hosting account? If not, where can I change that manually so that the two passwords will continue to be the same?

The username can not be changed.
To change the password, login to the portal at https://x10hosting.com/sso/login when you are logged in click "Open cPanel". At the top right you should have "Settings", under that you can change the password by clicking "+ Update Password" to open the form for changing the password. This will change the password for all places where you login with the username (ftp, forum, cPanel) as well as for the portal itself. For the change to sync to all instances you might need to log out from the portal and back in again.
