How to adjust mod_security setting?

My software requires that I have mod_security disabled to function correctly. Does anybody know how one can turn it off for a hosting account?

For a free hosting account you can not turn it off, you would likely need to go for premium hosting in that case, I know at least premium offers ability to adjust the settings and I'm 99% sure you can turn it off.
