Hi,

I've just tried WP Clone to restore a site from a different URL but that just seems to hang.

I then tried using Duplicator but any attempt to FTP the archive (.zip) to the x10.mx server fails at 23Mbs. The zip file is 99Mb.

So how can I migrate a WordPress test site - database and site files to .10?

Hi timmaste,

I would recommend that you use FTP to upload the archive, and use phpMyAdmin to restore your WordPress database. However, it appears that your account is currently using 500MB out of our initial disk cap of 512MB, which may be why your FTP uploads are failing. ;)

If you require more space, please read this thread for more information. :)

Thank you,

Hi William,

OK, thanks for that. I'll need to wait a few days then as I only set up the first test site yesterday.

Incidentally, I kinda set up things wrongly and I'd like to start over. The first domain I set up (timmasters) really should be a subdomain in the same way as bhb has become. Is there a simple way to set up aditerum as the primary domain (no site needed) and then have timmasters and bhb as subdomain? The idea behind this is to have my development sites on x10 when the client has no hosting and isn't going to use my servers and then when the site is ready to go live get them to buy hosting from x10 and then simply (???) migrate the development site to the new live server. 99.99% of these sites will be WP.

Hi,

I have changed your main domain name to aditerum.x10.mx. You should now be able to add timmasters.x10.mx as a domain in your cPanel. :)

Thank you,

Thanks - I have added the domain but what happened to the WP site I set up and worked on yesterday?

Hi timmaste,

Your WordPress site is now available at aditerum.x10.mx. Would you like me to move the files to timmasters.x10.mx? :)

Thank you,

Hi William,
What I see at aditerum.x10.mx is a very badly damaged version of what was timmasters.x10.mx.
I'd like aditerum.x10.mx to be blank for now - I'll either upload a cover page or use whatever site builders you have later
I'd very much like to not lose the work done yesterday on timmasters.x10.mx, so you please migrate the database, Wordpress files including the theme files, plugins and all wp-content files. Otherwise I have to start over.

Hi again,

Also my FTP to what was timmasters.x10.mx no longer works. So I deleted that FTP account from the control panel and set up a new one but I am getting:-
Error: Could not connect to server
Status: Waiting to retry...
Status: Resolving address of ftp.timmasters.x10.mx
Status: Connecting to 198.91.80.106:21...
Status: Connection attempt failed with "ECONNREFUSED - Connection refused by server".
Error: Could not connect to server

Hi,

Your WordPress blog was displaying incorrectly because WordPress had not seen the domain change; nothing has been damaged. I have moved all your files to "timmasters.x10.mx", and your site is now displaying correctly. ;)

Thank you,

It works for me. Try flushing your DNS cache, maybe the browser cache as well or just wait for a while.

Hi,

This may be due to your DNS cache, as the site appears to be loading fine for me right now. Please could you try flushing your DNS? :)

Sorry, but we cannot change account usernames, due to the internal systems that rely on the consistency of account usernames.

Thank you,

Hi,
I have cleared Firefox and Chrome caches (hard clear), flushed my DNS (ipconfig/flushdns) and I also tried to access the site from a browser (IE) that has never visited that url and all browsers get the redirect.
