Resolved How to update my WordPress sites to using https?

I have done some Google searches on how to do this on x10hosting, and received some confusing results:

On https://x10hosting.com/blog/free-ssl-certificates/, it says that Let's Encrypt Certificates are available via the cPanel, but when I go to the cPanel, I can't find them. Admittedly, this article dates back to 2016, so doubtless a lot of things have happened since then.

On https://x10hosting.com/community/threads/cpanel-migration-to-directadmin.206877/ (dated 2019), it says that you're moving from cPanel to DirectAdmin, but I can still see cPanel. What's the story on that?

So, I know that to move each of my WordPress sites to be secure (https), I need first to install an SSL certificate. In the presumed absence of "Let's Encrypt Certificates", how do I do that? How do I install an SSL certificate (free, I hope?), and then move my WordPress site to using it. I can install the Really Simple SSL WordPress plugin, but I want to ensure that any changes I make don't lock me out of my WordPress sites.

Some advice, or a pointer to a central place where I can learn how to do this on x10hosting, would be much appreciated!

I'm no expert but Direct Admin does not support https: Do do this you will have to use Cloudflare in conjunction with x10.

Thanks for the quick response, but the question wasn't really about DirectAdmin, except that I mentioned that only that I'd run across a mention of it in my Google searches. Nor do I understand the reference to Cloudflare.

x10hosting does not allow https:// or SSL on free accounts.
but others were able to do this using the cloudflare services and setting it to flexible.

cloudflare is another website you must use with x10hosting free accounts,
you can check out their pricing https://www.cloudflare.com/plans/
they have a free plan you can use if you dont want to pay for it.

there are other sites like cloudflare but cloudflare is the most used one.

otherwise your stuck using the http:// for free accounts.

The article is indeed old, and concerns premium hosting only. Though I believe they still offer free ssl in some way I am not sure entirely since I do not have a premium hosting account nor am I involved with that side.

Only free hosting was converted to DirectAdmin control panel, seeing as you say you still have cPanel I'm guessing you do have premium hosting. Very few that regularly hang around at these forums have any tie with premium hosting (other then possibly being a user of that service).

If you indeed do have premium hosting you will likely get a faster and more accurate answer by asking in the ticket system through your clients area. However based on my experience on cPanel as a whole, you would likely find the option under SSL/TLS, it may not be let's encrypt though as cPanel themselves has also started offering such option (that's what I have on my VPS).
