htaccess Require valid-user doesn't work

All is in the title. Here is the code which doesn't work :

<Files ****.php>
AuthName "Acces restreint"
AuthType Basic
AuthUserFile "/home/****/public_html/.htpasswd"
Require valid-user
</Files>

Is there something that miss with recent changes to Apache ?
