Some stories they think of are really good. As a meter of fact they are so good you could make a movie out of it.

So you take their story, make a movie out of it and who knows, you might earn millions one day

I've seen these many times. I honestly don't get spam in any of the 3 inboxes I have. If you continue to get these, go to http://www.dslreports.com/forum/scambusters and send the scam e-mails to their Phishtracker. It's a useful tool and it's always good to contribute to their database.

There are also scams in the mail, that say you won this amount of money. In order to claim the x amount of money please send money for the fee. I assume they just want you to send your cash to them, take the money and run.

I love the way they always go for something completely unbelievable (like $14M!), and the emails always have loads of typos and are laid out badly.

And then they take the name of a government official or somebody and include a link to a website about that person, expecting that to be proof enough of who they are.

And then they ask to contact them ONLY on the number they give, due to the 'sensitivity of the transaction', (ie, rather than contacting the named official via proper means)

These things are awful.

I had a friend who is an artist that got a similar type email from someone saying they want to purchase his art. They asked him for his name, address, bank info, and some other personal informatin which they did not need, etc. So they could wire the funds to him along with some extra funds for his trouble.

They also said they would have their 'shipping agent' take care fo the shipping of the items. And he gave it to them!

When his wife found out she called me. I told her to immediately go to her bank and close the account and tell them what happened so they can monitor it. The bank thankfully was aware of these types of scams and was willing to help them.

My artist friend is an older gentlemen who is not very good on computers or with reading English, so he truly believed this person.

These folks prey on the elderly, the lonely and the truly innocent.

It was just a joke for you (hence the ) because it was you who started this thread, & it was you who got that scam email.

Clearly the scammers were hoping that you were gullible!
