good day. i am trying to install a forum by SMF but when i am told to insert

These are the settings to use for your MySQL server. If you don't know the values, you should ask your host what they are.MySQL server name:
This is nearly always localhost - so if you don't know, try localhost.
MySQL username:
Fill in the username you need to connect to your MySQL database here.
If you don't know what it is, try the username of your ftp account, most of the time they are the same.
MySQL password:
Here, put the password you need to connect to your MySQL database.
If you don't know this, you should try the password to your ftp account.
MySQL database name:
Fill in the name of the database you want to use for SMF to store its data in.
If this database does not exist, this installer will try to create it.
MySQL table prefix:
The prefix for every table in the database. Do not install two forums with the same prefix!
This value allows for multiple installations in one database.

i insert the required data localhost, username, password, database , _smf and when i click proceed i get the folowing error

Cannot connect to the MySQL database server with the supplied data.

If you are not sure about what to type in, please contact your host.
Access denied for user 'navitas_bobby'@'10.33.248.79' (using password: YES)
Click here to try this step again

what should i do?

Hi digital_critic48,

It sounds like maybe you haven’t created the DB prior to the installation. If that’s so, go to cPanel > MySQL Database Wizard and create the db + user + privileges following the steps of the wizard.

Please note that the DB you’ll create will have your 'cPanelusername_' in front of the name you choose and it is part of the settings. In other words, include it as part of your database name.

Server name localhost is correct.

Hello,

You were missing an accesshost in your cPanel, I have manually added them, can you try to connect now please?

You're welcome.

Is there anything else we can help you with?

yes, sorry for the delay. in my forum there is a neat option , for resizing avatars, called GD module. i have been told that this is what my host should install. to whom do i address for this GD module? :D

also, is there a difference in speed between the FREE plan and the first paid plan? :)
i am asking this because my forum , although no members or posts/files, is kind of laggy :)

Hey,

Sorry for the delay in replying. I've been away for a couple of days. The GDLibrary is already installed and should be functioning, is there any option for it to detect the GD modules or anything like that in SMF?

The speed difference is dependent on your location relevant to the servers, but also server speed itself. Our premium servers are MUCH more stable and are faster almost all the time. Due to almost no abuse on our premium service this allows us to provide faster and more stable servers for premium.
