i don't know if you can do it with fantastico, but you could go to http://phpbb.com and download it there, upload it through ftp, and go through the setup wizard. it will take an hour or two to upload on a faster internet connection, if you're on dialup it could take six hours. it's big.

although now that i think of it, you can just upload the whole .zip file and extract it on the online file manager, it will go much quicker, maybe half an hour

put the files in the public_html folder.
Then go to the installation folder and install it. for example if your site is abc.com
then the url would be
http://abc.com/installation/

you can also, download it and install it on your system and later upload it after any change you need to make to the site.

Use the FTP to upload the file to the server and particularly to public_html folder. and try installing it as i said previously.

Is it the Web Root (public_html/www) or Public FTP Root (public_ftp)

This is getting too difficult

This is the tutorial that i have found for you.

Go to http://www.phpbb.com and download the phpbb2 files.

Download FileZilla and log into it using your username and password.

If its a rar archive, unzip it and then upload that will be usefull for you, but i can eat up your bandwidth.

Upload all of the files you just downloaded into public_html( Web Root) directory.

The find config.php.
Right click and select File Attributes
Make the numbers at the bottom of the page 666

The go into your brower and in the url box type:

http://yoursite.x10hosting.com/install/install.php

Select MySQL 4.x/5.x from the drop down.
Leave 'localhost' as it is.

enter your database name
user name and password for that database

Then follow the easy instructions for the rest.
Click start install, and then finish installtion.

After that go back to FileZilla and delete the 'install' folder, and the 'contrib' file.

Then go back to your browser and refresh the page, log in the then log into the Admin Control panel.

okay, first you download the zip from the phpbb website, i assume you got that part.

then, upload the zip to the public_html folder on the website, select it, and say "extract". you can choose where it should be extracted, should end in "public_html"

now browse to the website, you should see an install page.

reply if you need more help, i can help you with the install if you need

Also make sure that the user has permissions to access that database. It's often overlooked on new installations using DB software.
