Re: #2 x10 page - HACKED or MALWARE or PHISHING or ????

Do you see any jQuery on that page?

Furthermore, using Firefox 3.6 (I think), and clearing my cookies, I was able to reproduce the "bug" and again come to my original conclusion: It's a popup advertisement. In fact, Firefox warned me of the impending popup ad, and I had to allow it in order to confirm my aforementioned conclusion.

Can we please, please close this thread? It doesn't belong in this forum anyways!

That forum is basically inactive :)

I gathered.....Corey closed the issue earlier though, saying it had been corrected, which is true.

Re: #2 x10 page - HACKED or MALWARE or PHISHING or ????

Why don't you use CCleaner and/or MalwareBytes to check for tracking cookies,
and also to check for virii.
Tracking cookies could be the entire issue here.

AFTER you click on the " OK " link it sets a cookie
so on reload of the URL you do not get sent to that "malware" page
Note: "malware" page is http://weeklycontestwinner.s3.amazonaws.com/skpage.html

Good point
So I made a fire under my test computer that has no hard drive (use ram disk)
and a live linux CD - the computer is dry at power on
with Firefox (from the CD) on that computer I received the same site

This computer has no hard drive to store data like cookies and/or viruses
each time I power up I get a new OP system and Firefox installed on the RAM-disk
from a boot CD

All other computers in my network have power strips turned off when I run these test

While I run linux those who have run test on this for me run WinXP and Win7 and linux

One last thing
When I go to this URL http://x10hosting.com/
I receive a page from x10Hosting that has some ads on it - thats OK
BUT
When I click on the link "Register today" which is on http://hosting.x10hosting.com/
(a x10Hosting page) that should go to the same page I get sent to
http://weeklycontestwinner.s3.amazonaws.com/skpage.html
which is not a x10Hosting page - thats NOT OK

Sorry I just saw your reply when I went to throw this up on the forum

Nothing happens UNTIL I click on "Register today"
and thats when I get sent to http://weeklycontestwinner.s3.amazonaws.com/skpage.html

This is the only forum (place) I know of for support of free hosting - these pages come up trying to work with free web sites

From the list of forums "Free Hosting Official Support Area For Free Hosting"

If there is a better forum lets move to it

Thanks

To keep (get) things on track...
we have two web pages from free x10Hosting
that take us to a "malware" site

These pages have a lot of pop-up and mouse-over ads
that is not the point

The point is when you click a link on a free x10Hosting page
you think will take you to a free x10Hosting page
you go to a "malware" site

http://staff.x10hosting.com/suspended.page/
does_not_exist05.png

http://hosting.x10hosting.com/

NOTE: at the top of each page Firefox stopped some pop-ups

After the page loads (stops loading)

For the first one click on "Go to the x10Hosting Account Panel"
For the second one click on "Register today"

and you get sent to http://weeklycontestwinner.s3.amazonaws.com/skpage.html

Test browsers on three (3) ISPs here in Arizona and one (1) in the East
get sent to the "malware" site

Re: #2 x10 page - HACKED or MALWARE or PHISHING or ????

I'm going to move this into the feedback and suggestions forum as it doesn't directly relate to a specific hosting account and doesn't really qualify as free hosting support.
