Hello,

I've been having bad performance issues with my account on the xo4 server, while the same application (LimeSurvey) is still running lightning-fast on xo3 (under a different, older account). Is there a way to request a move from xo4 to xo3 for an existing free hosting account? Also, if I were to open a new account, will I be able to choose on which server to host it (I can't remember if there was such an option when I opened this one)?

I really need to solve this issue quickly. Please help... Thanks!

The accounts won't be moved between servers, and you can not chose which server you'll end up on during signup.

Further more you're only allowed one account, so if you have two currently you would need to cancel one to avoid having both suspended.

Some things are not meant to be hosted on free hosting as they require more resources, the reason i is faster on one server then the other could be many (less users on one, less resource intensive scripts on one or any combination of reasons).

It is possible that type of script that you use is better off being on a premium server, in fact any business type setting I would recommend premium services for as they do come with uptime guarantee and are less prone to abuse and thus more stable and faster.

See https://x10premium.com/ for more information and prices. Premium servers are separate from the free hosting servers.

Hi Anna, thanks for replying. I have, in fact, been considering moving up to Premium hosting, but I need to know whether the Infinity plan be enough for my use case. I am running an online survey platform LimeSurvey to process registrations and other questionnaires for students in a university course. I don't use it all that often, but when I do, I need between 50 and 70 users to be able to connect at the same time. When I tried to do that with free hosting, I began to get the dreaded "resource limit reached" messages. If I move up to the Infinity plan, do you think this problem will be solved?

I would think so if you sort of got it working on one of the free servers, but as I'm not familiar with that script at all I can not say for sure unfortunately.

You could try sending a message to those that actually work with the premium hosting and hopefully they have a better idea if it would work or not, the more information you give about the scripte the better it is, you can use the contact form at https://x10premium.com/contact-us to get in touch with them.

Actually, I never did get LimeSurvey script to work at all on X10hosting under the kind of load I mentioned in the previous message, because the resource limit errors were basically blocking all activity. It was only useful for questionnaires that respondents would fill out on their own time, so the load was much more distributed over time. (To get 50 - 70 people to complete surveys at the same time, I had to use my own local server that I ran off my laptop.) That's why I really need to make sure that moving up to a paid plan will actually do the job... Perhaps the LimeSurvey developers would have a better idea of the kinds of resource allowances that are needed to run the script for that many simultaneous users. I'll ask them and see what they say...

Thanks for your help!

Anna, I have one more question. In relation to the performance issues with the xo4 server, what puzzles me is that the slowdowns are occurring only at the start of the session. Especially the initial wait to bring up the first page is very, very long --up to a minute,-- but after the first ten page loads or so, the response speeds up considerably. Also, this only applies to the use of server applications, such as LimeSurvey and the phpBB forum. The plain website always loads quickly. Do these observations, by chance, tell you anything useful about the nature of the problem that might lead to a solution? Could this have something to do with my account configuration, rather than some fundamental performance problem on the server?
