Upon updating and reinstalling I believe I may have used the wrong password and inadvertently blocked myself out of using the email client.
Please unblock thank you.

"Connection to server mail.xxxx.xxx timed out."

I can use the webmail to view emails fine, but need the client working (I have the correct password now!).
I may have also changed server settings, what are the correct server settings for IMAP and SMTP?

Thank you.

im not seeing any blocked ip.
there is a document describing how to set up email, please read
you can access it in directadmin, then email manager, then email accounts,
click on the ? next to E-mail accounts this should open the help page.

you mentioned "Connection to server mail.xxxx.xxx timed out."
are you referring to mail.your-website.mx or a different email address like hotmail ?

just a note, if its a google e-mail, google is stopping pop/smtp access through clients.
making people log in through their website instead.

Thank you for your reply.

I am referring to mail.my-website.mx using thunderbird client.
It was previously working fine, then suddenly stopped with time outs.

Also please check :
  • Getting in touch with your email service provider to make sure that you're able to get emails from the @instagram.com domain.
I have stopped receiving emails from instagram, however I have receiving other emails just fine from other major companies and priviate individuals. Has that site been filtered and banned or some other issue?

im not sure but sounds like you need to check instagram's settings for sending email.
if they allow it or not in case they stopped like gmail did.
but it does sound like the problem is on their end. (if you received them before)

it was a suggestion to login to your instagram account and verify they allow sending e-mail.
i said that because you mentioned you stopped receiving emails from instagram but receive from others.

here is what i use for e-mail which works for me.

incoming pop:
pop server - mail.my_website.x10.bz
port 995
connection security - ssl/tls

outgoing :
smtp server - mail.my_website.x10.bz
port 587
connection - STARTTLS
my server requires authentication - checked.

note: "mail.my_website.x10.bz" means mail.yoursite whatever your website url is
these settings seem to work ok for me.

I dont use pop3, I use IMAP (multi devices).

I have 2 different mail server IP addresses:
xo4.hosting.com (taken from MX records in x10 hosting control panel)
x14.x10hosting.com this was from an older setup in my email client, is it still used? It used to be working.

I don't know what to do here. I think I've found the problem but unsure about the solution, does hosting.com even exist with x10hosting?

the x04.hosting.com i dont think is valid.
since x10 migrated everyone to x11, x12, x13 etc.

the "mail.my_website.x10.bz" i think is still the default mail host for imap and pop.
i dont use imap myself though, i just set what worked for my client.
maybe someone else will correct me if im wrong.

Okay I figured out POP3 and got that working, thanks.
For some reason also instagram messages are finally being received in the inbox.
Now all I need is IMAP working; which currently it is not.
I require the settings.
I should make a new thread as the title here isn't appropriate to my help request any more.

The main difference between IMAP and POP3 would be the port you are using.
Also if you use your own domain you may need to either use unencrypted, install a SSL on that domain or use the servers hostname.

For me, in thunderbird I have:
Server: mydomain.x10host.com (I have ssl installed on that domain) Port: 993 (which is standard), for non SSL the port would be 143
User: fullemail@mydomain.x10host.com

I have SSL/TLS for encryption using password as authentication method.

Please note that my client is not setup using English so I have simply translated the terms myself which may not accurately represent what they use in the client.
