I made a script to check if http is on every 5 minutes(using cron, can be changed). To ensure it isnt some wierd problem it has to fail 5 times, then it emails me(can add u, of course) that it is down. The script isnt hosted on x10hosting because if x10hosting goes down the script is rendered useless. if u want the script to be on the bussiness server or something then private message me...?

Timezone: GMT -500. Eastern Time
Forum Name: TarinC

I should of told you this earlier when you were working on it. The http server will reboot nobody will notice but that means it is down while it is rebooting. Thus meaning that your script will see that it is down and email saying that it is down when all it is doing is rebooting

it checks every 5 minutes, if its down 3 times in a row it will email. therefore it has to be down for 15 minutes for it to email me.

GMT +8.00 ( Malaysia, Singapore)
Forumname:stealth_thunder

If there's anything I can assist feel free to use me ;) checking http will be fine and easy since I almost on the computer 16 hours a day to 24 hours.

It nice for Corey to take action on the down time good move.
I wish you success in preventing more downtime from happening.

That script by TarinC sounds like just the thing. Pretty ingenious.

I think there were a few others in my timezone, but in case the others fall through. I'm on every night from 12am to 5am pretty faithfully, because of my clan and also doing endless modifications to my site, lol. So I certainly don't mind monitoring the server then. Anyway, I thint my timezone is GMT US and Canada but I'm never sure if I have the right one, anyway, I live in Toronto, Ontario, so whatever timezone that is lol.

I want that script TarinC. :) There's just so many cool programmers here.

That's one of the better options IF corey cannot get enough volunteers here.

That's cool TarinC. Let us know when you're done. While we wait for Corey's announcement of the 6 volunteers

I'll leave this open for updates on TarinC's script; I will pick volunteers sometime next week. Check news for more info.
