Hey, i am looking at investing in a new computer, not for high end gaming, but not low end either, sort of a mid end system for a reasonable price.

So far i have this listed:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 (2.40Ghz/Kentsfield/4MBx2/1066FSB/EMT64/XD/Quad Core) -$350

RAM:Corsair TWIN2X2048-8500C5DF 2GB (2x XMS2 1GB) PC-8500 (1066MHz) DDR2 RAM, 2x240-pin DIMMs, Non ECC, Unbuffered, 5-5-5-18, Dominator Airflow Fan -$300

HDD: Western Digital WD5000AAKS 500gb 7200rpm 16mb SATAII/300 -$180

Graphics Card: GeForce 8800 GT 512mb -$370

Optical Drive: Pioneer DVR-212BK 8x/18x Dual/Single Unbranded Black OEM - SATA -$70

Case: Thermaltake VF4000BWS Bach VX, Black/Silver, NO PSU, Window Panel, 14cm Front Fan, Front I/O with eSATA -$160

PSU: Thermaltake W0134 Power TR2 RX 550W PSU with Cable Management & 14 CM Fan -$150

Screen: Samsung 22" LCD 226BW 2ms Response, Black - $400

Total Price: $2150

That is what i have estimated right now, i would appreciate all constructive criticism please, all ideas are welcome.

If you believe i am being overcharged, let me know, or if you believe i can make a better system for a cheaper price than that, let me know by posting here. Remember all prices are in $AU.

P.S. 700th post, hehe!

well I have been building systems now and then for people I know. Before I get my parts I run it by the toms hardware forums. I get a lot of good advice plus some people also tell me of parts that might be incompadable or troublesome.

Thanks for that, i posted it on Toms Hardware before, also posted on the internode forums and whirlpool, but it seems many threads like this just get passed by, as users are more interested in higher quality computers, i mean i have posted similar threads before, and as i said i cannot afford much more than AU$2000.

But some people post things like, "Get a core 2 extreme qx9650, they are much better" And sure, they are....if you can afford the $900+ for one.

:p I will try posted on some more forums though and see what replies i can get. Thanks for your opinion! =]
