And if the magnets destroy my cell phone's data then who's to blame?

Not worth it if you use a cellphone, or anything with data on it.

Umm... these are only used, when you go to sleep. : )

Also, do you have any idea what type of magnet you would need to destroy anything remotely related to your cellphone?

If you really believe this nonsense, why not just buy yourself some neodymium (rare earth) magnets & rig up your own ring? Heck, you could even whip up some earrings & an ankle bracelet while you're about it.

I have hundreds of neodymium magnets, of all shapes & sizes, starting at only 1 or 2mm big, all the way up to some whoppers that are impossible to remove once they are attracted to something (a bit like me at times! ;) )

I use them for practical purposes, for example fitting them to things that I want to be magnetically attachable, picking up swarf, creating frictionless bearings & levitation, or for sweeping across walls to find screws & metal-work. I also just use them just for fun (magnets are amazing!)

You can buy packs of them for just a few pence per magnet, all the way up to several £ each. Take a look on eBay or check this (UK) site for the sort of magnets I have bought ; http://www.shop4tools.co.uk/acatalog/Neodymium_Magnets_Disc_Sphere_Block_Gold_Silver_Magnets.php

Because magnets are fascinating objects with somewhat mysterious properties, people have been claiming special "miracle cures" with them for years. However, as far as I am aware, there is no real evidence to show that any of them actually work.

So use them for "health" reasons, by all means. Perhaps your "faith" in them will have a placebo effect & you might just feel some benefits. But don't rely on them to work.

See all the fun you can have with neodymium magnets in Youtube. Here are some examples I found after a quick search. You can probably find much better examples for yourself;

Hehe...um...normal magnets do not work. They will intake the energy from your cells...we don't want that, we want more energy...these magnets..(not sure how) only have a repelling force, only a negative charge...(not a positive one) to attract energy from your own cells...they are not normal magnets : ) ...thus it's not as easy to get them, as it may seem...

All magnets have 2 poles: north & south.

If this guy claims his are any different, then they aren't magnets!

@John Klyne. There seem to be no cookies involved in this tracking system. So, that means they rely totally upon IP addresses. You can get all your clicks yourself by simply shutting down your modem, waiting a minute or two, then restarting it and coming back here and clicking your referral link as many times as you want!

That doesn't work for people like me who are on cable & have a semi-static IP.

It may work for JK, if he is lucky.

Alternatively, just go through proxy sites. They all have different IPs. :)

If john klyne is on DSL, his ip should change every time he restarts his modem.

Oh, and if he has an iPod, he can go around the neighborhood (or town) and connect to different wifis to get himself clicks! :D

This is just ichwar trying to promote his new iPod toy again.

You could do this with any device with wifi enabled; mobile phone, PDA, laptop, netbook etc.

Just remember that connecting to private, non-public wifi networks is illegal, & people have been sent to prison for it (though mainly when they were trying to do something nastier than log in to a website with a different IP.) ;)

If a wifi is unencrypted, it's public.

I am absolutely not telling JohnKlyne to drive around the town with his notebook hacking wifi encryptions passwords. I simply suggested that he go around and use the ones that are available.

I could be wrong, but as far as I am aware, even using unencrypted wifi without permission is illegal.

It may well be a lesser offence, but it is still regarded as theft of the owner's bandwidth, which they may be paying for by the kb. By using their connection, you may be exceeding their data cap (causing them loss of connection or high usage fees) & you will cause them a slow down in their own connection, if they are using it at the time. You are also committing fraud, by using their IP address to undertake your internet activities.

As I said, this may well be a lesser crime, & the owner of the wifi connection should know better than to leave their connection unencrypted. But never-the-less, you should be aware that it is possibly still illegal.

Ok, fine. In our town, everyone is on an uncapped plan. Those of us who leave our wifi unencrypted don't mind others using it. Besides that, I know everyone here who's wifi I use, and I know that they don't care if people use their connection.

In the US, unencrypted wifis are hotspots! That's how things work here.

Hmmm, I wouldn't rely on an English man for learning American law.

Anyways, while it's true that it's possible to get in trouble for using unencrypted wifis if the owner pushes a case to far, I know that's not going to happen in my town, and with that, I suggest we move this conversation elsewhere like to the newest biggest thread so that we don't hijack John's thread further! ;)
