Hello,

I currently have my web on another hosting, with a domain provided by uni.me. I'm planning to move my site to x10hosting, since I'm no longer confident about my old hosting, and wanted to try this alternative. Question is: Can I use the domain I'm currently using with x10hosting, or do I need to choose one of the choices from the sign up page (x10.mx, x10.bz, and so on...)? I'd prefer to keep my domain from uni.me.

Thanks in advance.

Best regards.

Your main domain name must be one from the dropdown.

If you control the DNS for your custom domain, you may then add it to the account as either a parked (exact same content as your main domain -- just a different URL) domain or as an add-on domain (separate content from your main domain, stored in a subdirectory of public_html)

Thanks for your answer!

So, I should register a domain here, then I've to add my old DNS as a Parked Domain or as an Addon Domain. Is that correct? And, if I choose as a Parked Domain, then, can I use my old domain?

Regards.

Bumping this, to update the issue.

Ok, this is what I did. I created an account here, and changed the nameservers on my custom domain panel on uni.me. I added the following:

Nameserver 1: ns1.x10hosting.com
Nameserver 2: ns2.x10hosting.com

So when I try to park my custom domain (mydomain.uni.me), it gives me an error:

Unable to add the domain name − Using nameservers with the following IPs: 82.208.40.8,82.208.40.3
Sorry, the domain is already pointed to an IP address that does not appear to use DNS servers associated with this server. Please transfer the domain to this servers nameservers or have your administrator add one of its nameservers to /etc/ips.remotedns and make the proper A entries on that remote nameserver.

Adding it as an addon domain, it succesfully generates the folder public_html/mydomain.uni.me/, but still gives me the following error:

Unable to add the domain name − Unable to create addon domain. Please verify that it has been set to the proper DNS name servers.

Flushed DNS and deleted browser cache, but it's always the same result.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Could anybody help me?

Thanks in advance

Could you please either provide us with the uni.me domain in question.

Also, I would just like to add that, based on my personal experience of uni.me and not representing the views of x10Hosting, I wouldn't recommend uni.me. Once I signed up for a domain from them, and less than 2 weeks afterwards they replaced my website with adverts and malware, and never responded to my email. Things may have changed now, since it was about half a year ago, but just a warning based on my personal experience.

The uni.me domain is duenosdelmundo.sub.es

Also, thanks for your advice. I'm fairly new to uni.me, so I don't have anything to complain about yet, but certainly, I'll have to keep your experience in mind. Will see what happens with my site, since I probably buy an own domain or choose another one, but not for now.

Thanks for your reply!

Regards.
