To whom this may concern,
I've been bouncing around the idea of having a few subdomains for my free site sometime in the near future, but I know that if I do it, I will need at least 4 subdomains eventually, maybe more, and the free accounts limit available subdomains to 3.

So, my question is, is it possible, under my account, to have multiple web sites, and to have each one be a "subdomain", raither than having multiple accounts and multiple separate web sites that split subdomains all over the place?

Thank you!
Lydia

Thanks jtwhite,
That's good to know, I may end up doing that at some point. Is it possible to double a "doubled" account?

So:
start with 3 subdomains
Pay $4.95, now have 6 subdomains
Later, pay $4.95 again, now have 12 subdomains

I assume the "one-time" fee is something you pay only at the point when you double the account, but does that also mean that you can only double account capacity once?

Thanks,

I think that the double process is not repeatable but when you go to double your account you have the option to double it again. I may be wrong about the repeatable part. By double it again i mean when you are at checkout there is a check box to double everything again.

P.S. You are allowed to have only one free account at x10.

Hope this helps,

Thanks wiivsps3,
That's good to know about the doubling.

I heard recently about something called a "virtual subdomain" that can be set up by an .htaccess file. I'm not sure exactly how that works, but I created a subdomain temporarily last month on x10hosting just to see what it did, and it didn't look like the subdomain you can create through the control panel is the same kind of thing.

Are the x10hosting servers set up for virtual subdomains? I haven't tried anything like that because I currently have no idea how to, but I'm just trying to learn what all my options are.

Thanks,
Lydia

If you don't mind having ads on your pages, the ad-enhanced packages allows for more sub domains /add on domains (not sure of the specs without checking though).

The double deal can be bought twice, so that means that you can end up with 12 sub domains in the end.

Don't think you can do virtual sub domains using .htaccess

Thanks LadyAnna,
That was what I needed to know. I guess I have a few different options then, I've got some thinking to do.
Thanks,
Lydia
