my cpanel theme won't switch back to my normal one

I switched to the basic theme just to see what it would do and it won't switch back.

my membership status says new but i've been illuminated for years

The "new member" thing is determined by the number of posts here in the forum, it has nothing to do with how long you've had an account, so don't worry about that part. Sometimes staff will have to force the theme switch - the default is now the x10 Basic theme, so if anything goes wrong along the way and cPanel gets confused, you get the Basic theme.
