Hello I signed up and created a database and table in mysql and added a record or 2 using phpmyadmin. I also added a user as well. But what is the server hostname I need to connect over the net?
Thanks in advance!

SQL_HOST ==> [ localhost ]
Note: x10hosting's free hosting accounts do not have remote MySQL database access (both incoming and outgoing from the account)
Here is a link to x10hosting's "Official" Wiki page for MySQL log-on information - for free-hosting accounts --> [ http://x10hosting.com/wiki/MySQL_Information ]

Oh nuts! I went to a bit of trouble setting it up. Why is this? no workarounds?

Why? You account is for a website. The mySQL is for that website. It is not a stand alone feature that you can use for another website.

Workarounds? Possibly. But if the main use of the database is to serve another website, then you will be in violation of the T.O.S. and your account would be suspended and then deleted with no access to your files or databases.

Well its not to serve another web site, but a windows application. Didn't read all the TOS but if it's free, I didn't think it would be a violation. if there's a workaround, I'd wouldnt mind exploring. thanks

PS, your signature is sad~~~~ ;(

There is /no/ workaround. Free hosting is not meant to be used as a MySQL host. If you need that, you can use our premium or VPS hosting.
