I am trying to get my entire WP fileset off the server here so I can edit locally and put them back when I'm done.
Using FileZilla - latest version. I get connected fine. But, the folders listed in File Manager under /home/urtechx1/public_html are not visible over in FileZilla's right hand nav. I see a single folder there but it doesn't react to a click. So I can't drill up or down to get past that folder object over in the Remote Site panel.

I know FileZilla is not an X10 product but I'm hoping an expert can step in here and steer me in the right direction. A screenshot might help directing this. I also am using the defaults in FZ's Site Manager Advanced panel:

See uploaded files.

Thanks.

H

Make sure you open the folder public_html not public_ftp because I notice you have .ftpquota inside that folder. Unless that is suppose to be in public_html folder but I've not seen that in my main public_html root folder before but I've just checked my public_ftp and It has the same .ftpquota as seen on your screenshot. Here is another thing you should try first go to the top of FileZilla and click edit > settings > debug > tick show raw directory listings and tell me if this helps you. It could just be that x10hosting Migrations have caused a few problems for certain websites so could be an error on there side of the server. I'd advise waiting for a staff member to respond back after they check what happened on your account.

Thank you no2nsa. OK, I'm getting closer. The main problem is that FZ isn't telling me where I am in the folder structure. A single folder icon with no text to see, doesn't tell me exactly where I am. So I did this. In FZ, in the lower right hand panel, I right clicked and chose "Create New File." I created "Marker.txt" an empty file. I then went to X10's File Manager & I searched for "Marker.txt" X10 reported it in /home/urtechx1/public_html/herbs/. So now I have to figure out how to "move" (change directory) up the ladder to public_html so I can drill back down to public_html/wp/ because I'm apparently sitting parallel to it and I don't know how to hop up a level (go up one and down the other).

Would you happen to know?

Hi urtech,

In your FTP Accounts section in cPanel, you can set the "Path" of individual FTP accounts.

However, by default you can simply login to FTP with your cPanel username and password rather than creating a new FTP account, and that will give you access to your whole home directory.

Thanks

@bdistler - did try that. Still puts me in that same folder.
But ---- Dead-I has hit the nail on the head! Don't use a special ftp account. Use your regular CPanel account authentication. With that, then the server places me in /home/urtechx1 From there I can now drill down to my ..public_html/wp folder where my WP fileset is. Problem is solved.

Thanks to all who helped. Will try to return the favor someday.

Question: If I wrote up a paragraph of instructions for this, do you thing X10 would use it? Or am I wasting my (and their) time. Because had I known this, I could have avoided making waves. I'm not all that sure that this little detail is covered anywhere specifically.

We do have a wiki that contains information like this, though in my opinion the wiki is currently in need of a bit of love. :)
