I often get "The default gateway is not responding". First I thought it was my ISPs fault, but my mother never gets it on her laptop, so I think it's something with my computer.

Is there any program that could log the cause of such things happening? Like if it's some faulty software or faulty configuration or something?

If you think it is a PC problem, you could try checking the event viewer to see if anything interesting is in there.
