Hey,

I just set up a hosting account and uploaded my copy of Wordpress which worked on my previous hosting account.
I get this message when I try to access the site (even if I just have an index.html in there with no htaccess):

Forbidden
You don't have permission to access / on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

The domain name is www.starbattleofficial.com

Would really appreciate if you could look into this for me please as I'm totally not able to access the website!

Thanks,

Jack

Cheers for the reply ^^ :)

I have literally just moved the site from a previous host so maybe the DNS has yet to resolve and you are seeing the working version on the old hosting or maybe it is because my DNS has not flushed for some reason.

I know this because if I remove the index.php and replace with an index.html with a simple test message the site does not change so I know it hasn't propagated here. When I test on various proxy servers (located around the world so they have different DNS TTL times) the site shows as forbidden.

Here's an example: copy paste the url into this proxy and you will see 403 forbidden

https://proxy-us.hide.me/

http://www.starbattleofficial.com/

Maybe x10 are blocking these proxies and that is why (which would be a very very good thing ;), I was hoping that it would sort itself out but have a feeling it will be this way tomorrow after it has propagated too all the DNS servers so was hoping maybe there was something that could be done in advance because I'm working with a bunch of people to get this site online and some are seeing the temporary site structure on the previous hosting and some see forbidden!

Hi starbatt,

Your website is loading fine here (and it is resolving to x10Hosting). It looks like the proxy website you are using has been automatically blocked by our free hosting server, which is why you are seeing the 403 Forbidden page there. We use data from external blacklists to block requests from known spamming IP addresses, to help protect our customers' websites, and that proxy site's IP address is listed in the StopForumSpam database. ;)

Thank you,

...maybe the DNS has yet to resolve and you are seeing the working version on the old hosting
at URL [ http://www.starbattleofficial.com/ ] - I 'see' IP address --> [ 198.91.81.6 ] - which is x10hosting's free-hosting server [ xo5 ]

AND
this shows the same IP address as the DNS "A" record --> [ https://www.whatsmydns.net/#A/www.starbattleofficial.com ]

AND
I know this because if I remove the index.php and replace with an index.html with a simple test message the site does not change so I know it hasn't propagated here.
x10hosting recently implemented a different web-server-software setup on their free-hosting servers - which is a combination of the Apache web server and the Varnish cache server
the cache server maybe why there is a delay before you 'see' the file - after you upload it - or see a new post

staff has said - to override [ Varnish cache ] try adding the following line to your [ .htaccess ] file in folder [ public_html ]
Code:
Header set Cache-Control "max-age=0, private, no-cache, no-store, must-revalidate"

you can look for (test) your IP address in the StopForumSpam database - at --> [ http://www.stopforumspam.com/search ]
