I have a x10 domain of cakes.x10.mx. on this is a parked domain MidgetCakes.co.uk.

I have tried setting up email forwarders for several @midgetcakes.co.uk addresses and none of them work.

I tried setting up real email boxes for both @cakes.x10.mx and @midgetcakes.co.uk. These are created without issue but if I send mail from my gmail account, no email arrives and I get no error msg from gmail. Users from other email systems do sometimes get an error msg - error code 1...

If I use webmail to login to these accounts (both @cakes.x10.mx and @midgetcakes.co.uk) and send a msg from the account I get the following errors:
Horde: There was an error sending your message: Failed to set sender: test@cakes.x10.mx [SMTP: Failed to write to socket: not connected (code: -1, response: )]
SquirrelMail: Message not sent. Server replied:Connection refused 111 Can't open SMTP stream.

Email Address Trace: The server could not trace a route to test@cakes.x10.mx.

I actually would just like to forward all email from theses domain to my gmail address but cPanel domain forwarding refuses to accept an email address while x10Hosting Basic says that the domain forwarding has been successfully created but nothing appears in the panel , nor does anything work.

Any ideas on how to get this working?
Kind regards
Ian T Price

This is resolved. Are you still having issues with the forwarding?

The test mailboxes appear to be working fine - I can now send and receive emails without error.

The emailing forwarding is still hit and miss. Some get through but most are disappearing without an error msg.

I shall trying deleting and re-creating the forwarders to see if that makes a difference and post back here with the results

Thanks for the quick reply

No problem. If you want, shoot me a Private Message with the email addresses you're trying to send to and I can try and look at the logs.

I deleted every email box and forwarder and recreated the following:
Email Boxes:
midge@midgetcakes.co.uk
sales@midgetcakes.co.uk

Forwarders:
info@midgetcakes.co.uk
midge@midgetcakes.co.uk
midget@midgetcakes.co.uk
postmaster@midgetcakes.co.uk
sales@midgetcakes.co.uk
The above are all set to forward to ian.t.price@gmail.com

This is was tested from non connected accounts (another gmail account and a completely separate domain) and now appears to be working correctly but with some caveats.
1) If you send an email to more than one or even all the forwarders only one email is received.
2) If you send an email from the forwarded to account, the email is not sent back.

I'm not sure if these are by design and if it relates to x10 or gmail set-up.

In addition to my last post on the above thread I created another two forwarding set-ups:
(A) midge@midgetcakes.co.uk => aep@gmail.com
(B) sales@midgetcakes.co.uk => aep@gmail.com

(C) emails at aep@gmail.com are collected by itp@gmail.com

Using a 3rd party email (itp@multihead.com) I've tested these extensively and the forwarders are working handsomely.

I have discovered that gmail will discard duplicate emails. With the set-up I have, if I send to both (A) & (B) I should get four emails; I only get one into my itp@gmail.com account. If I permanently delete the first email before operation (C) occurs, I get a second one.

In addition, if the email account sent the email then it will never receive the forwarded email even though it's been sent to another email system first. This is at variance with email systems I've used in the past.

I hope this info is of help to others. Essentially to test your email set-up ensure you use a 3rd party email address that has no connection to the tested set-up.
