Is there a way to have a parked domain use the same public_html as the main account rather than its own in DirectAdmin?

Yes, the option is called Domain Pointer.

A Domain pointer is however slightly dumber then a separate domain, you can not configure a pointer for dns, email etc, it will only duplicate what you have on the domain it points to.

It should work with both, and both options work from my end.

o.k. it does work except that http://warfare.cf/ displays a default page: "To change this page, upload your website into the public_html directory" from somewhere.

Clear browser cache.

That would be a placeholder page displayed for a domain added as a separate site and it is not what I see.
