Hello,
I've done some google search regarding using Perl on a free account, and while there are conflicting threads about whether it (perl) is enabled, I did find that some system modules are operational.

I am wondering therefore if it is possible to install a custom module such as MP3::Info in order to publish the duration of a .mp3 file, since as of now I am only able to mark the date for pages (very useful) and times.

Any help is thoroughly appreciated.

Kind regards

No perl.

You can use PHP to accomplish this.

Hi,

As I say, Perl base modules are working and operational, therefore I have coded my pages accordingly however is there a way to manually install Perl modules on a free web hosting, i.e. instead of using Cpanel?

Thanks again

No. And any Perl-running capability you have found is probably indicative of a (very) temporary configuration error that will be corrected shortly.

It's been said for some time but it has ALWAYS worked for me.

The only thing that has changed, is I have been allowed a full allocation of 1024mb on my free hosting account without having to ask beforehand.

It is only now that I would like to do something more in this regard.

To say that it doesn't work is in fact false, since there are modules installed, which can be easily shown however when trying to use Cpanel to install new modules, there is an error re: compiler, which is indicative of non-implementation. Whether x10hosting choose to correct this situation in any way is for them to decide but it will in all likelihood still function at a basic level.

Also, just to note: SSI has been functioning from day one without issue or problem, in fact the entire service has been nothing but reliable for server side scripting including Perl.

SSI has nothing to do with Perl. And Perl is officially not supported.

Obviously SSI and Perl are different languages, but you can use them together via SSI EXEC.
