Hi. I was wondering if i could create a streaming system on my site that would allow me to listen to my own personal library from any computer I'm at.

Of course the stream would be completely password protected. Only I could access that page in my website.

I just want to make sure i wont be banned for something like this.

Thx ahead of time : )

It is against the TOS.. Even if you're not sharing them..

Illegal Material: This includes copyrighted works, commercial audio, video, or music files, and any material in violation of any Federal, State or Local regulation. You may not store copyrighted Mp3s on your webspace in any way shape or form.

He's not storing them.

He's streaming them.

This is perfectly legal, however there's no way to host a shoutcast or other streaming media server on x10, unless you have a VPS. You have to be able to execute files, and it's not able to be done on free hosting.

You'd be better off using something like remote desktop or VNC servers. Or host the server on your home computer and just have x10 connect to it, like stream from your computer and view it on your website.

In order to stream the mp3s, wouldn't he have to store it first?

No.

here's how it works.

source (music) -> server (local or remote) -> output.

he's not storing anything, he's sending information through a server to the end user.

By streaming, he means click on the file on the server, and he downloads it to play.. Get it right..

That's not what streaming is...

If he means storing them, then he's not talking about streaming.

Yes.. But you have to understand, he probably doesn't know the difference.. Why do you think he signed up here? for shoutcast services? i doubt it.. Think about it logically..

I am thinking about it logically.

Logically, streaming is sending data through a server.
