I doubt this would be done since server configs aren't changed usually. What I think you are doing is forgetting is to add your home folder to the path you are trying to open, i.e. for a file in /public_html (as seen in ftp), the absolute path is /home/USERNAME/public_html, where USERNAME is your cpanel username.

it may or may not work, but the include path should already be set to the folder you are running the script in.

You could check it with echo get_include_path();
