I was moving content from another server and upon trying to load any page my Firefox (also Edge and IE do the same) wants to download the file of type "PHP" instead of displaying it.

I thought maybe an .htaccess rule from the previous server was the issue as I needed some specific options once (but no longer). I have deleted all .htaccess files and no change in behaviour.

The only other change was opting for PHP7 instead of PHP56.

Not sure what else to try ... have also "paused" the domain on Cloudfare thinking caching could have been an issue.

Thank you for any and all help!

EDIT: Upon further thinking...I do need to put the .htaccess files back in place as I have modules that require them.

Ok I finally solved it myself. It was a line in the .htaccess file that I didn't for some reason that was trying to explicitly define a php version that does not match any on this server (7.1).

Please mark this as closed and yes...triple and quadruple checking is sometimes necessary.

Thread closed to mark as resolved.

It is indeed often the smallest detail you miss no matter how many time you check and re-check them
