Usually, adware can change the Chrome update channel to 'dev' so if you do see that in the 'about' section where the version is along with the alert below saying that updates were disabled by an administrator, do what
@chatngox said (delete the folders that Chrome mentions under the fishy extensions and then remove from Chrome) and reinstall Chrome. If Malwarebytes doesn't pick up a PUM (potentially unwanted modification) hinting that it disables Chrome updates then it's safe to assume that it's gone. Also, make sure developer mode is turned off in the extensions section.
Top tip: avoid multi-bundle packages. Even though they do show that you can deselect software that you don't want to install with it, some will install the useless stuff regardless. I'm looking at you, CNET Download and those "speed up" advertisements.
