Problem connecting to database

Hi

The past couple of days, I've not been able to see my Drupal site, www.highhillsview.com. Although I havent made any changes to it for a couple of weeks - has there been a change in the database connector recently - it really looks like a database connection problem - or has there been some PHP-based change that could have caused this?

It means that there is problem with connecting to mysql..by one of your scripts is facing the problem.I am not too sure why the database should be problematic..something should have happend to the drupal database.
In order to know if the hills -site's problem is simlar, just try installing a drupal site using softaculous and you would know immediately
if the problem is with that particular database or the account.
For now I dont see any reason why the account could be wrong.Hence try using softaculous and plz revert back if you have a problem.

Yes - I know it gives this error - I have the script specifically to test the connection to the database.
According to MySQL, a Type 111 Error -
'Usually it indicates network connectivity trouble and you should check the condition of your network if this error occurs frequently'

I haven't changed the database and the site hasn't been altered. I'm not sure how re-installing would help fix a network connectivity problem - are you suggesting that I can fix the problem by creating a new database?

Well the connectivity problem was fixed by changing the mysql-boru to boru. I guess that it was a DNS alteration. However, the site is still showing as offline...

mysql host should ALWAYS be noted as "localhost" to ensure it is not affected by changes to server configurations.
