Generally speaking not so important,

If you are not using the frontpage extensions then no problem loosing them.

I also had the same problem, I deleted everything from my public_html. Is that why i cannot connect to the mySQL while trying to install joomla?

www folder was just a mirror of the public_html folder. That's why you were told to not worry about losing anything there.

Do you need to use FrontPage extensions?

Not sure what that is but im pretty sure it is effecting my installation of joomla.

Excuse me, sorry for the confusion. I was responding to gmdurag because this is their support request thread. Please make your own support thread and do not hijack other support threads please.

technically, you can delete everything that originally were inside of public_html/www folder (they are the same, what is deleted in one is deleted in the other) and that would not affect the ability to login to ftp or otherwise use the account.

Same applies there, anything that were in public_html/www when you started the account can be deleted without that affecting mysql/ftp access.
However if you deleted files related to your joomla install that could be a problem, and you'd have to re-upload those files.
