Hi.

Whenever i post here it always seems to be about a problem. I really wish
that it did'nt have to be that way but there are some very important issues
which I need an answer or to be solved.......

MYSQL

SLOW .. reaction times to the DB's is like waiting for paint to dry. Even trying
to access thru the CPanel is almost impossible.

Please advise if there is any work going on at the moment to solve this ???
Thank you.

CRON JOBS

I had a previous thread abt Cron Jobs not working and requesting assistance
to ensure the commands were correct.

my Cron Jobs have now disappeard....[or] are they linked somehow to the
SQL DB's and unviewable ? [OR] Has someone from admin deleted them ???

I've been working on this site for just over a week now and I hope you can get
this resolved for me BEFORE the weekend which is the highest traffic days.

PLEASE can someone acknowledge and at least let me know these points are
being actioned.....

Thank you
ML

Hello,

I've checked into the MySQL server, its a little bit slow, but nothing out of the ordinary. If you're having issues with cPanel loading slow can you please provide a tracert to the server you're on.

As for the cron jobs, the only reason they'd get removed automatically is if you have any cron jobs running more than 1 cron job every 5 minutes.

We have a limit of 1 per 5 mins. All others will get removed.

Hello,

Our crontab system is viewing " User crontab cleared - 1 cron execution allowed per 5 minute interval."

How many did you have running per 20 minutes?

IF any 2 crons run within 5 minutes of each other, one will get removed. It doesn't matter how often they run. Also cpanel may be slow when you first load it as it has to query the information, but afterwards it should speed up.

Also to extend on what masshuu is saying,

If you need to run more than one cron within a 5 minute period, our prime membership removes this restriction.

http://x10hosting.com/prime-membership

And on the tracert, are you running Windows?

Hi.

Yes I have windows XP

As for the upgraded hosting............well, what can I say. It looks attractive but
5 years??

Also is there cgi support?? That was removed along with access to my
mailing list when some idiot decided cgi was no longer available to us low lifes without
even sending an email in advance warning what was happening........

Is there also a seperate MYSQL server ???

[where is the full list of features?]

Hello,

I think you are getting the Prime membership and Illuminated services mixed up.

Let me go over some things here first.

Prime Membership
- 3 Month Cost: $2.95
- 6 Month Cost: $3.95
- 1 Year Cost: $4.95
- Removes inactivity timer from forums (no login requirements)
- Allows crons every minute (as the problem your having above)
- Doubles your Specs (E-Mails, etc)
- Support Requests are highlighted
- Double Allowed CPU\Memory Resources
- Other fancy things that are listed here.

Now with the above package, x10 Prime Membership, your account will stay on the physical same server. All of the limits will be upped, and everything will continue to run other than those aspects brought above.

What you are looking at, x10 Illuminated, I will list some features below.
Illuminated Membership
- 5 Year cost of $45.
- Includes all features of above.
- You are put on a physical seperate server with less users.
- No remote MySQL server (Like the paid servers, MySQL is on the local server)
- PostgreSQL
- Allows CGI/Perl/Etc
- Higher PHP Memory Limit; less restrictive php in general.

And that's a one-time fee of $45, and that offer expires December 1st, were it will then be $60 for 5 years.

Full Feature List: http://x10hosting.com/free-hosting-comparison

I hope this clears up what I said to what you were bringing along to me, let me know if you have any further questions.

Hi Brandon.

Thank you for all of that.....

I may just take you up on that offer. first though can u confirm exactly what a cron command should look like [see previous
reply above] and second I'm still have SQL connection probs [SLOW] probably coz it's remote right???? BUT, it never used to
be like that......it just seems to take an ice age before it connects. or does'nt.

You asked previously abt a TRACERT....wots that?? something to do with connection speed?? if so, then sould I be doing that
for the SQL server rather than Chopin....

[ignorance is bliss]

Hello,

Proper Cron would be this.

Code:
20 * * * * /usr/bin/php -q /home/mylife/public_html/prizes/lottery.php

0 0,12 * * * /usr/bin/php -q /home/mylife/public_html/cron.ph

I think the fact of the MySQL is more of the fact that we have a lot of users running MySQL, etc, so you'll notice it be slower than on most sites. The illuminated package would fix this; as less people per server average overall.

We have everything setup in the background, so you only need to use localhost to connect to your database.

Finally, click Windows Logo Key + R, a "Run" dialog should come up. Type in "cmd", press enter, you'll get a command prompt. From there type in 'tracert i-m.exofire.net'; from there post the results in this dialog.

Hey,

That tracert looks quite clean, although its a bit worrying seeing timeouts on hop 1, since hop 1 is your default gateway. Although its not uncommon for some routers/modems to totally block all ping requests to them.

Is there anything else i can help you with?

Hi Jarryd....thank you.

Yes pls - default gateway?? whats that?? is that the DNS thingy?? coz previously I changed it to Googles
8888
8844

Just out of interest...if you would'nt mind of course, could you take a few looks at my website over the next
hours and see what sort of response times you get from your end??

For me it's still VERY slow and if there is any way to speed things up then of course that wud be great.

http://i-m.exofire.net

Thx
ML

Hello,

Default gateway = your router or modem.

I took a look at your website sampled from different times of the day and the response time was within a couple seconds of each other, at most times almost instant.
