Hello,

I joined x10Hosting after a friend told me about it. My previous (paid) host was very expensive for just my blog. It took me a day to move here but it turns out I have bad luck and I came in right in the middle of the server moves. I also learned later that I need to upgrade my PHP to Advanced to run a Wordpress blog, but that is currently disabled.

I understand that you guys have a lot of stuff going on right now and you are very busy, but the (auto)renewal date for my old hosting is quickly approaching and I want to cancel before I end up wasting 120 dollars. I also want to spend the next two months building up my site before school starts back again.

I guess my question is, how can I get advanced PHP for wordpress? I am considering buying the "double everything" upgrade anyway. Would that change my status to "paid" and give me the PHP upgrade? Or, if that doesn't work, is there a way I could ask for a favor and have my PHP upgraded manually?

Thank you very much.

Welcome to x10 hosting.

Wordpress should run just fine on level 2 (intermediate).

Currently there's no levels in use, all accounts are set to the equivalent of level 2 (some functions that normally would be in level 2 might be off though). The use of levels are coming back when everything else is back to normal operations again. If you then have noticed something that does not work, you can ask to be upgraded, but level 3 (advanced) requires very good reasons.

I just installed and made a quick test on my free account with the latest wordpress (2.8). No errors at all, even automatic plugin/theme installation works fine. My free account is set the same as your would be, intermediate php :)

As for the double everything deal, that would not change your possibilities to change php level. And technically you'd still be on free hosting. The only difference is that you get twice as many databases, twice as much space, twice as many email accounts and so on, simply twice as much of everything. (can be applied two times).

Hmm. That is strange. I guess I must have messed up something when moving my wordpress over. I'll try this again...

It could be due to some plugin you have installed, during my test akismet was the only plugin activated.

Well my site worked fine on the other host with every plugin/theme. I just uploaded the files and did everything under the "If You Want Your Old Blog To Still Work" of this guide: http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress

How long would it take for my site to propagate/show up?

Thank you again.
Edit:
I got everything to work. Thank you! :)
