Question on permissions

Does your hosting allow for 777 permissions on Wordpress plugins?

It should not be needed... Generally having files set at 644 and folders at 755 works perfectly well (even for a cache folder with our setup)

If the file/folder is not directly accessed through the browser, it should work (if not it'll generate a server error).
