What is a nulled script? I am new to this site and want to make sure I don't break any rules. As they say, ignorance is no excuse under the law. So, I must learn what the heck a nulled script is.

I looked it up and it seams to be referring to pirated software so I wouldn't really call that a script. Especially if you are talking about an exe file in a zip that is far from being a script.

Maybe it is a stupid question, but since I am a programmer I can't help but to think of script as being php, perl, javascript and the like.

Considering the fact we are talking about rules on a web server could a nulled script then be to remove the copyrights from a, for example, php script? Or are we talking about taking ping functions out of copyrighted encrypted php scripts.

The main reason I ask because I am writing software for sale, wrote version 1 in perl but sold it un-encrypted but with functions that ping my server with a serial number for updates. I of course writing 2.0 in php so I can use ioncube this time.

So, what exactly is this servers definition of a nulled script?

It's a tricky one - it's pirated software because even a script like Wordpress is considered a script.

The best example I can think of is vBulletin - when you go to their homepage, it's $150 forum software. The same software x10hosting uses legally, actually.

The "problem" for most people is that $150 price tag, so they go download an illegal version. The illegal version doesn't require a license key, and most importantly removes all links to vBulletin and removes the "phone home" part which tells vB a new install's been made at YOURSITEGOESHERE.COM, so if there's no license they can file a copyright infringement notice with the hosting company. This is nulled - it's illegally free, and has been modified heavily to attempt to prevent the original script makers from being able to find out their script was installed and used illegally somewhere, kind of like using a Keygen to generate a cd-key for a game you pirated, then preventing it from going online to validate the key.


We take it a step further than waiting for that; we scan for the indicators of known nulled software and prevent it from even getting installed.

The easy way to avoid it? If you're about to download a script, search its name in google and look for the homepage. If it costs money and you're getting it for free, it's probably nulled. If you actually -got- it from their homepage and it's free (like wordpress, joomla, SMF, etc), it's safe.


As always, when in doubt, ASK FIRST. If you ask if it's nulled and it is, you don't get suspended unless you actually put it ON your account.

I am deeply grateful to be able to help you with this query, it's not often people actually seem to read the terms of service, nor if they don't understand do they ever ask questions.

Firstly to start off with, the definition of script or software in this context is used as a way to define any piece of code/php script/content management system/forum/bulletin board, basically anything that contains any scripting/programming language. This also includes HTML/CSS and anything else used in the programming/software development industry.

Now what we're talking about when we say "nulled scripts" or "nulled software" is software that is owned/licensed by a company that has developed it and you require to purchase their software or a license for the software before using it. vBulletin is paid software which requires a valid license to use it. "Nulling" this software is a way to remove any callback feature from the software and prevent the software from requiring any form of license when using/activating it.

Essentially nulling software can be done in many ways, technically by some companies standards, modifying things such as footer notes that have a copyright to the original company that made it may be considered nulling their software.

So to sum it all up, nulled software is any piece of software that is modified in a way that prevents you from ever having to pay for it, prevents people from knowing who originally designed the software, removing any callback feature that provides the software with security if there is no valid license for it or the removal/editing of any type of feature which allows you to use their software in a way they did not intend it to be used (this does not include installing mods or addons for the software as many software developers allow you to do this, as long as the addon does not prevent you from in any way shape or form using their software illegally by their terms of use.)
