Hi,

I tried to clean up my account and deleted a lot of folders in public.html directory as well as www. I tried installing wordpress using Softaculous and manually, but failed.... My guess is that I deleted some files that should have been there... Is there a way to restore the default account files or to reset the account? http://consumerzoo.com/ - the address.

It would be really great if you could help.

Thanks,
Kes

Install wordpress manually.

You don`t need to reset your account. Just upload all wordpress files to public_html and install it...

Hi Kes,

Could you copy and paste all error messages that you may receive when trying to install Wordpress using Softaculous? And could you make sure that you're installing Wordpress to the /public_html/ directory? Deleting folders in your /public_html/ and /www/ folders should not affect the functioning of Softaculous.

Hi,

Thank you for your help! I am lost, so it would be great if somebody could shed some guidance...
I uninstalled everything and started from scratch:

1. Created MySQL Database called: gasikest_wordpress
2. Created database user called: gasikest_user
3. linked the database and user and gave all permissions.
4. opened file wp-config.php and changed ONLY Three fields (see below). e
5. then uploaded all wordpress files into the public.html folder.

The errors that I get could be seem here:
http://www.consumerzoo.com
http://www.consumerzoo.com/wp-admin/install.php

Do I need to change localhost, or edit any other files before uploading?

When I did not do it manually and used Softaculous, I did not see even a single file uploaded into public.html, and the error I was getting for the Softaculous links provided were just 404 Errors.

Thank you so much for the help!!!

Kes.

considering the fact that Corey might still be working on Lotus it might be a good idea to wait a little and try again later. The settings look correct to me.

As part of the announced changes (http://forums.x10hosting.com/news-announcements/110021-latest-news.html) lotus is being migrated onto a new server. I do not know for sure if the work is completed, but I find it very likely that some parts is not yet fully migrated.

Thanks, but everything looks too suspicious... I would expect a lot of people to have wordpress... so the issues would have been raised already... Is it possible for somebody to try and install wordpress on their account and see if they are experiencing the same error?

there's been some reports of various issues with sites on lotus, some not being able to get to the site at all, some with database errors (not being able to connect).

It’s better to wait for a while, as LadyAnna pointed out. I just tested installing WordPress via Softaculous on server lotus and although the installation was successful, I can’t access my admin page (404 error).

Thanks! I will keep my fingers crossed that the issue will go away... and if there is a kind soul that could test wordpress installation, I would appreciate! I don't want to be stuck with if Lotus was not the problem..

Have a friend on Lotus.

Just made some deletions and additions to his site.

Neither show up.

If they are moving from one machine to another, what is visible from the web may be on one machine and what cPanel sees/affects is on another.

Maybe. Maybe not.

He is just going to wait until tomorrow to see what happens. He has backups of everything.

In times where servers are being moved - and this is a generic piece of advice - or big changes are being made to the host, do not touch the website, or if the website badly needs to be modified, take down the website, temporarily.
