I already have one web site up and working in the free hosting area.

Now I want to set up a completely different web site and I cannot see how to do it after noodling around for quite a while.

Step by step direction will be appreciated.

Are you trying to host another website in your account???

In cpanel there is an option addon domain.

Add your new domain here... e.g newdomain.com
then go to cpanel and in public_html folder there will be a folder named newdmain.com
upload your new website in it...

don`t understand ask again

Decide either a sub-subdomian

thehive.tropicalbees.x10hosting.com

Or another domain

wasps.co.cc or hornets.cz.cc

I think you are talking about the second.

1. Register a domian name. co.cc and cz.cc are free. Or you can pay.
2. Point DNS to x10 nameservers,
ns1.x10hositing.com
ns2.x10hosting.com
3. Go to cPanel, Domains, Add-On. Eneter new domain name. This will create a directory (say hornets.co.cc ) under public_html. That is where you put your files. The site will be totally separate from your main site.
4. You can have up to 3 Add On domains (ie host a total of 4 completely different domains) in one account.

I have gone to both the Account Panel (http://x10hosting.com/panel.php?home ) and the unser cp (but I can't find that again) and neither seems to have a create new domain option.

Thanks for the 2 answers received - I guess I need more specific instructions!

In cpanel http://yoursever.x10hosting.com:2082 There is an option of addon domain.

Just open it and add your registered domain.

then go to domain registar and point your domain to x10 DNS

ns1.x10hosting.com
ns2.x10hosting.com

If you want to have a subdomain, i.e. something.tropicalbees.x10hosting.com, then it's another procedure.

I want to set an independent web site - BocasBreezeIndex.x10hosting.com

When I went the cPanelX page

http://tropicalbees.x10hosting.com:2082/frontend/x3/addon/index.htmlo the cPanelX page

For New Domain Name I filled in "http://tropicalbees.x10hosting.com"

cPnael filled in the next two blanks:

Subdomain/Ftp Username: "BocasBreezeIndex"

and

Document Root: "public_html/BocasBreezeIndex.x10hosting.com"

automatically.

I filled in the password then got "parking" error noted above.

I have been filling in the cPanelX page again as I write this and when I start putting in any password I get "AJAX Error: Try Again" as soon as I enter the first character of a password.

You can only park your own domain. not the x10hosting subdomain.

I recommend you to register a free domain at http://co.cc
and point name server to ns1.x10hosting.com & ns2.x10hosting.com
then park it in cpanel.

Otherwise If you want to use x10hosting subdomain then change it from ACP.

Boss the Best - in reply to your post 674

"You can only park your own domain. not the x10hosting subdomain.

1. I don't know what "parking" is.

2. You say " I recommend you to register a free domain at http://co.cc
and point name server to ns1.x10hosting.com & ns2.x10hosting.com
then park it in cpanel."

a. My browser doesn't find a web page with the URL "http://co.cc". Is that a complete URL?

b. What do you mean by "point name server to ns1.x10hosting.com & ns2.x10hosting.com
then park it in cpanel."

c. I don't understand "Otherwise If you want to use x10hosting subdomain then change it from ACP." I want a new domain "http;//BocasBreezeIndex.x10hosting.com". I don't understand what you mean by "x10hosting subdomain".

I guess I need specific, exact "do this" direction in the form of:

Go to this URL, do this then do that, etc.

The instruction you gave me are incomprehensible to me. Using words and phrases like "point" and "change it from ACP".

I don't understand "Otherwise If you want to use x10hosting subdomain then change it from ACP." I want a new domain "http;//BocasBreezeIndex.x10hosting.com". I don't understand what you mean by "x10hosting subdomain".

The domain you want is a subdomain. http:// www.x10hosting.com is a domain name. The BocasBreezeIndex in front of x10hosting in the web address is a subdomain. This can only be done by registering a second account AND THAT IS AGAINST THE X10HOSTING TOS AND RULES. ONLY ONE HOSTING ACCOUNT TO A USER IS ALLOWED.

So to help you have a separate website on the same hosting account that you already have, instructions have already been provided. Co.cc is available for you to register a free subdomain name that looks like a regular domain name. For example, if you registered your preferred name there, it would look like this: http:// BocasBreezeIndex.co.cc After you register it there, you can use the account panel at co.cc to set the nameservers (NS) to ns1.x10hosting.com and ns2.x10hosting.com

After that, go to your x10hosting cPanel. There will be a button for addon domains and parked domains. Click the addon domain and add the co.cc domain you registered there. Make sure that you point (in other words, it should be a setting that you can assign a certain folder in your file manager to it) it to the part of your site that you wanted to be a separate site. After all the settings apply themselves (may take about 48 hours or less) then you will have a second site on the same hosting account you already have that can be accessed with your new domain name.

ACP was a shortcut spelling for account control panel that you reach by logging in here with your forum username and password. With my directions above, there's no need to change anything there.

Edit: Oh and here's some info about addon domains and parked domains and the difference between them from the x10hosting knowledge base. http://kb.x10hosting.com/questions.php?questionid=28

I hope this has helped you.

Calistoy -Thank you for your effort. I believe I understand your instructions but I have not applied them yet. You certainly explained why setting up a second web site more complicated than setting up the first - which I did in ten minutes only having to ask one question. Thanks again.

Well, for having another site, you can't have another x10 subdomain, as you are only allowed to have 1 x10 subdomain. You have 2 alternatives, make a subdomain of your current subdomain, like sub.yoursubdomain.x10hosting.com , this can be done in cPanel from the "Subdomain" icon, in th "Domain" category.

The other alternative is getting a TLD, a top-level domain. If you don't want to pay for one, I recommend using http://dot.tk - this is a place where you can get a free top-level domain. You could also go with http://co.cc, but it has restrictions, like that the domain is only 1-year, and it can't contain most English words, because then it's no longer free.

After you got a TLD - Free or not, doesn't matter really, same steps for both - you have to login to the domain registrar and find the DNS settings page. Here, where it asks you for nameservers, you would have to put in:

ns1.x10hosting.com
ns2.x10hosting.com

When you done this, you would have to go into your cPanel, and choose "Addon domains", again under the category "Domains". Here, you would have to put in the domain you just registered, without the http:// and without the www. (so if you registered mydomain.tk, that is what you put in). Then you would have to choose a directory, this is where your files are, or where you want to put your files.

When all this is done, you would need to wait some hours for it to update.
