So, I signed up for the X10 free account, having read about the free Site Builder and how easy it is to use. A new site owner like me would envisage no problems; just sign up and get clicking and building, right?

NO.

There is NOT A SINGLE mention of Site Builder in either the Basic or x3 Control Panels. There is lots of confusing and mysterious stuff like File Manager, FTP Users, Files, Logs, Databases, etc, etc. Not one icon linking to SiteBuilder.

Like many before and after me, I signed up to start building my site. All I am left with are 2 Control Panels with a load of stuff that means nothing to a novice.

So, I have one question, doubtless on the lips of many like me, who sign up and quit in frustration and disappointment.

Here it is...

WHY is Site Builder not prominent in either of the 2 Control Panels?

Hi sterlin6,

I believe you are referring to RVSiteBuilder, which we were recently forced to discontinue due to a huge amount of issues it was causing on the servers.

You could either create your website from your computer, or you could install software on your account (such as Joomla) using our one-click installer "Softaculous" within your cPanel.

Thank you,

Or failing that, Microsoft Expression Web is available free of charge now it is no longer being actively developed: http://www.microsoft.com/expression/eng/

Simple WYSIWYG editor supporting automatically updating page links etc. Ideal for beginner.

Thanks for the 2 responses. Much appreciated.
x10 hosting is misleading prospective clients with its continued advertising of its non-existent SiteBuilder: https://www.x10hosting.com/free-website-builder I could even have signed up for a subscription package before I discovered that this is - frankly - a lie.
Disgraceful mis-selling. I am off.

Hi,

This was an unexpected consequence of the fairly recent server migrations. Since then, we have attempted to get RVSiteBuilder working again, but unfortunately, due to the large number of issues that have arisen, it seems extremely unlikely we will be able to support RVSiteBuilder again. Although we are yet to update the website with this new information, I would not call this "mis-selling" - firstly because we never sold you anything (as this is free hosting), but also because we have provided a perfectly acceptable alternative to clients to manage their site (in this case, Softaculous, or there is always the alternative of using your own site builder).

I wish you the best of luck when searching for a new host. Thread locked.

Thank you,
