I was told awhile back that free accounts don't have SSL, If I disable it in Domain setup the site wont load and 404's. With it enabled I get
"cURL error 60: SSL certificate problem: certificate has expired" when trying to install certain plugins in wordpress.
The site also tells visitors that it's "Not Secure" and recommends they leave.

Can I please get a viable solution to this?

I have removed the expired certificate (it would probably attempt to use the server cert though).

The best solution is to make sure that you do not try to run any part of the site on https by default (lot of your links for css etc is set using https so somewhere the system thinks it should be using https). Optionally you can setup your custom domain to use cloudflare and utilize their option to secure the site, needs to be set to flexible SSL however.
