Well, news has broken out all over the Stargate community about the latest move that MGM has taken. Ultimately, what will be going is after Season 5 is done airing or around the middle of it, Sci-Fi will not be airing any more episodes of Stargate Atlantis, and there will be a cliffhanger at the end of the show with a movie following it, wraping up the show.

What do I think of this in my opinion? This just absolutely sucks/blows, however you want to think of it. Honestly, Stargate is the only reason why I watch TV on Friday nights/midnight on Friday/Saturday, and if the stop producing or airing the show, I'm ultimately going to stop watching TV. While I do have lots of channels on Satellite TV, most of the stuff on just doesn't appeal to me. Killing Atlantis will be the last move for anyone to do. Hopefully Sci-Fi will fight to change MGM's mind, but if they don't, it'll be a sad day for the Stargate Community. But if MGM doesn't change their mind, it's going to be a sad time for the Stargate Community.
EDIT: By the way, MGM makes more money off of DVD sales than anything really. I'm sure they'd have more than enough in budget to keep producing SGA. Not to mention, now that Blu-Ray has won the content wars, they can make a lot of money by selling Blu-Ray disks. Or, if not that, just set up a web site that allows you to download the new episodes in SD, and they get their revenue from Blu-Ray and HD-DVD sales and ads from the download site.
