Hey Guys,

I just heard that the Swiss are planning to blow us all up by recreating the big bang. (joking about the blowing us all up bit, but not about recreating the big bang) I wanted to know what you reconed to the idea? it's cost them 4 billion pounds just to recreate something as stupid as this. To be honest i don't thing they should do it because what if they blow the whole world up!! I mean one of my friends is getting that idea! because his personal message for msn says::"Lets all die on wednesday! :D" I mean, thats just dumb, recreating the big bang for one moment that costs you 4 billion pounds. Thats even worse!! Waste of money when they could be spent on researching new cures etc..

stupid ? stupid it may be a theory but its better then that other story no offense intended for those who believe in god i mean there is absolutely no physical proof that god created earth in 7 days, theres plenty of proof for the other theory we are the proof every thing around you is proof wonder why well every thing is made up out of stellar dust all the elements and molecules came from outer space and where did that dust come from ? they came from stars debris from collapsed stars

I look at it this way, lets say they do manage it.. They will then have strans of unchanged DNA before it evolved. Which can in turn be used to kelp cure stuff like cancer and aids. And since anything from it might be "human".. 4 billion pounds worth of stem cells anyone?

£4 billion seems cheap compared to some of the stupid wars the world keeps engaging in. :bash: With those, we get nothing but lots of small bangs, a whole load of misery, & learn nothing except how futile they all are.

Lets keep up the investment in scientific research -it's the only thing which keeps the human race moving forward, & may actually solve a few of our problems along the way. :happysad:

£4 billion is cheap? excuse me, that could bring all the 3rd world countries out of poverty. That could pay for all the countries to have clean water. There is a 1 in 50 million chance the world will blow up, What if we're that 50 millionth chance? we get blown sky high for what? a science experiment that blew the world up and killed us all.

I agree, lol. But everyone was running around shouting we're gonna die tomorrow wth we doing in school?!!?!! I mean comeone guys, What is the point in us wantin the swiss to blow us sky high in a 1 in 50 million chance, if its got a chance then don't do it at all!! instead spend the god damn money on decreasing poverty!

Hey, think about it this way, if it doesn't blow up and is a success, there'll be no excuse for *****ing about death from the whole thing killing us all. If it all goes belly up and kills us all, there'll still be no *****ing about it going wrong. It's a WIN-WIN situation!

And themasterrocker, you have your views, others believe advancement in science to be more important than poverty. They have that right. You have the right to be disgusted. The world goes on. Why not be thankful that you aren't in poverty (unless you are...)?

no i'm not but poverty has been around alot longer than science and I like science and i like helping people. Getting people out of poverty with £4 billion pounds would be more sensible then conducting a science experiment!

Or donate the money for charity or disease research? I bet all those dollars would be enough to find a cure for cancer or something

its not dollars lol. Its Pounds Sterling. and to be honest its alot of money for one experiment. They haven't even said what they going to benefit off it!! Which is basically alot of rubbish! they need to do something that will benefit off it!! IF it can make a cure for some diseases or make them get new things about diseases yeah i'd agree with it but i disagree with it because they won't name what the benefits of it is!

I don't belive there is any benefits. Well, to see all substances if that counts as benefit.

If thats true then kill the scienctists and rob the money and give it the countries in poverty!
lol! That would be awesome if someone did :p

I agree that you should be shouting about poverty -& preferably taking useful measures of your own to decrease it. But to argue that scientific research must stop in order to achieve this is clearly nonsense.

:rant2: Richer countries could end poverty in an instant if they wanted to. There is more than enough money to go around -for example what about my example of all the trillions that are wasted on pointless wars? I notice you would rather keep wars (which not only deprive the poor of money, but also are guaranteed to cause destruction, death & suffering) but you are shouting long & hard about a bit of research (which carries neglible risk). And what about the money wasted on the PC you are using to needlessly access the internet, what about the electricity that is wasted writing all this stuff? What about that burger you ate when you didn't really need it, or the cost of that MP3 player or new trainers you got? All unnecessary. This money, multiplied by that wasted by everyone else in wealthy countries in just 1 day could instead be used to end poverty many times over.

And why do you think our countries are so wealthy? It is largely as a result of our research & scientific advances. Just because you don't understand the value of that 1 scientific experiment, don't assume that the scientists, politicians & the investors don't understand.

Or donate the money for charity or disease research? I bet all those dollars would be enough to find a cure for cancer or something

Cancer research can continue quite easily without any cuts in other research. Cancer research has had billions poured at it over several decades. Some cures have been found, & more still need to be found. But don't kid yourselves that this will cure poverty -it may well increase it. The longer people live after retirement, the more money the economy needs to find in order to feed everyone. Sadly, we all need to die of something -and if it isn't cancer, it will be something else. Perhaps, quality of life is the most important thing. And yes, lets tackle poverty. ;)
