With your help we will try to stop what could be the end of the network.

Please read, only take five minutes or less and you could decide the future of the internet.

We love the internet.

And suppose you too. Think of all the amazing things that gives us: A vast network of communication, business innovators, a platform to express yourself freely or change powerful governments, and hundreds and hundreds of hours of videos of kittens.

All these amazing things are available because the Internet was designed in an open and inclusive, with a multitude of voices behind able to express how they are governed.

But the Internet is in danger.

There is a meeting between the governments of the world in a few weeks, and could well decide the future of the internet through a binding international treaty. It's called the World Conference on International Telecommunications (WCIT), and is being organized by a UN agency controlled by governments called the International Telecommunications Union (ITU).

If a proposal is approved WCIT, decisions would be made on the internet by an agency controlled by governments, with the power structure from the top down, based on the old school corporations and closed actions. Some proposals seek to cut service easier, threaten privacy, legalize monitoring and blocking traffic on the web. Others seek to impose new fees for access to content, not to mention lower your connection speed. If the delicate balance of the Internet is touched, could have serious consequences for business and human rights.

This must be stopped.

Only governments can vote at the WCIT, so we need people around the world to demand our leaders to keep the Internet open.

threatening privacy, monitoring and blocking traffic on the web

FYI Google Inc does all of the above lol!

Of course Google wants you to lobby your elected leaders on their behalf it's cheaper than them doing it, everybody from the Internet giants down to the ISP's is getting twitchy about if people are to scared to use the Internet because of government watchers that means less content, less traffic and lower profits for them.
