Hi there,

It would be great if people that has acces to closing threads did a bit of cleaning in http://forums.x10hosting.com/free-hosting/ .

There are several threads that have been solved and are still open. What it does is maybe make people that really need help not to be seen.

So If you have had your issue solved, close your ticket or if X days past with no answer to the ticket after a staff response, close the thread.

Cheers,

A good and a valuable suggestion.I think only Account manager other than admin can close the thread.
Cheers

I believe they are automatically closed after X days but because community members are helping out, we can't close the threads even if they are solved. I think a solution might be to have community advocates be able to close threads over there.

We currently cannot do that, however, I do think it's a good idea.

I disagree, I often find threads on other forums that are closed, but I have something new to bring to the table, but can't because it's locked.

in this particular case the section he talks about is the support section for free hosting, once an issue has been solved the threads should be closed as each user always should start their own thread when requesting support.

There's no point in replying to a thread where the OP has gotten a solution already.

And yes, they will be checked and closed as soon as tickets are all caught up after the recent migrations/upgrades.

I believe that community paragons can close threads, but not advocates.

I believe the OP of the thread should be able to open the topic back up should another problem arise. Of course, there's always the option to make a new topic. At the moment no one except for a forum moderator, account manager, Administrator or a Paragon can lock or unlock all the threads. The users I'm sure can lock their own threads in there as I recall being able to do such a thing in the past.

At least in the Spanish support section is not possible to close your own thread, just delete it.

There is an issue that if you delete your own thread before it has been closed the notification above that says that you have a post opened remains there stuck. Someone has to close the thread to make that disappear.
