I am unable to delete a subdomain of the base account in cPanel :
3d.design3d.elementfx.com /public_html
change.gif
not redirected Manage RedirectionRemove
it says :
Subdomain Removal

There was a problem removing the subdomain 3d.design3d.elementfx.com Show Details

Sorry, the subdomain 3d cannot be removed because it is linked to the addon domain(s) 'paradigm-synergy.info'. You must first remove the addon domain(s).
The issue is that I don't want to remove the addon domain ;
so I am at a loss as to what to do?

Best regards,
Bill

An addon domain requires a subdomain to work, you can't remove just the subdomain. Essentially an addon domain is parked (alias) for a subdomain.

That's not gonna be possible unless you also remove the connected addon domain. That addon domain is essentially an alias of the subdomain you remove, it would not work if you were able to remove the subdomain. That's how cpanel handles addon domains, it does require a sub domain of the default domain to work.

So, to recap. an addon domain is actually an alias of a subdomain of the default domain.
Then this automatically created subdomain of the default domain 'uses - up' 1 of the 2 subdomains that x10hosting 'gives' us?

Yes, that is correct. As I said in my first reply an addon domain is essentially an alias for a subdomain. That subdomain is created automatically when an addon domain is added to the account and can not be removed. It is how cPanel handles addon domains.

Thanks for your very quick reply;
I think I was having pronoun trouble
(to quote Daffy Duck).
