Unzipping files

How can I unzip files on my hosting account? When I SSH into my account I receive a message that shell access is denied? Can shell access be granted or is there another preferred method?

I an trying to un-tar some files on my free x10 hosting account

There's no ssh access on the free accounts.

You can unzip them through the filemanager in cPanel though.
