Hello there!

My site has purchased our own domain, and wish to start using it whilst on x10hosts - I've never moved domains or set up one before, so I really need some help doing this.

I have a little knowledge, and did a bit of research resulting in finding about nameservers and DNS (which i think NS = nameserver?)

i'd really appreciate it if i could get some 'help for dummies' guidance here, despite it probably being covered 1000000000000000 times!

I saw on the tutorial on the Wiki [ https://x10hosting.com/wiki/How_to_Use_Your_Own_Domain ] and this is what I have so far...

Domain side: http://prntscr.com/46xmax

On cPanel/x10:
DNS: http://prntscr.com/46xmj5

Addon Domain: At this stage, I simply get an error message, I have allocated a few hours between setting this up, but not 48, nor have I cleared my cache yet. I think this is where I am getting something wrong...
http://prntscr.com/46xqm4

Thanks in advance! :)

Hi simplera,

It looks like on the domain side of things, you've added ns1.x10hosting.com and ns2.x10hosting.com as A records, which are completely different from nameservers. Elsewhere on your domain registrar's control panel, there should be another option to add them as nameservers instead. ;)

Thank you,

Ah, thank you! What am I looking for exactly? is it in DNS? I will screen shot my panel.

Hi simplera,

Normally the nameserver configuration is another option in your control panel, separate from your DNS records, though it really depends on your control panel. ;)

Hi simplera,

There should be an option somewhere to set nameservers. I'm not completely sure where this option would be, as I don't have experience using this particular domain registrar's panel.

This would be something to talk to your domain registrar about. :)

Thank you,

Domains and Websites
... Advanced Domain Settings
........ DNS

Once you get there, look for something like "Use my own nameservers"

Thanks, I have nothing along those lines, however there is an advanced option in the DNS to change 'A' to more options, is this what I'm looking for?
I've contacted the registrars but had no response as of yet.
