Alright I'm new here. Thought I would try out this location for hosting services.

Does the server go down like this all the time?

I keep getting my tickets referred to a thread that says "issue resolved." "starka-apache thread"

I can not access my cPanel and I can not ftp to my host and NO ONE CAN SEE MY SITE!

I'm very dissatisfied right now.

I want to know when this will be fixed and why I should continue to use this service? At this point you can forget ever getting money from me.

Edit: updated and cPanel and ftp seems to be accessible... so now how about my site? It was fine until the servers went down. If it's just my site then I just want to know that.

I'm very sorry that you aren't happy with the service right now. I know you've probably heard this, but I must re-iterate: It's a free service.

To answer your question: No, the servers are not always like this. I'm really not sure what happened to cause the problem on Starka, but I can assure you that it was fixed as fast as it possibly could be fixed.

I can see your site fine, http://secretworld.x10hosting.com/. It is showing me a directory listing, but files appear to be there.

Can you confirm that you can view your site now?

Thanks,

Site is working fine here. Usually we generally have very stable servers, although we do have some minor hiccups here and there. I think all of the problems are solved, and if you continue to have problems I think the issue might be with getting blocked by the firewall.

Next time it happens please post a support item so we can look into it further.

error when visiting the site: http://secretworld.x10hosting.com/forum/index.php

Several tickets have been submitted. It was working fine until the servers went down. Since then my site has only been up intermittently.

Perhaps something in my database got corrupted in the process, I don't know.

I'm awaiting response from the Ticket on it.

I just need to know if it is my site or the host that is the issue?

I might have done something wrong but it was working fine for a few days before all this server stuff started happening.

** just as a side note: I tried to copy the contents of my public_html folder to my computer and the connection failed several times. My internet was stable the entire time. no drops and no packet loss. The only connection that broke was with the connection to the ftp for this place.

For the error messages ... you have files missing. Try re-uploading the files and trying again.

For the FTP problem, what FTP client are you using?

I'm using FileZilla

And as for files missing. They are actually there but seem to have stopped working since the upgrades to the server. I'm guessing the files are now corrupted. I'll have to try and reload them once I can figure out how to find them.

It was an SMF Forums package that I installed. So, I'm not familiar with the code. It's going to take me awhile to find it.

Thanks for the tips.

Bright Blessings,
Demi

I do wish people would stop saying this. Being free doesn't remove the right to a decent level of service... It doesn't change anything except the price. There are other free services, so x10Hosting must remain competitive in order to keep customers.

Plus, Brandon's right (as usual...), does sound as though there are files missing from your upload, which could be they're corrupted, or have the wrong permissions. Make sure the main directory of your website is either public_html or a subdirectory in there. It might be easier to start again with the uploads.

Yes, his statement about it being "Free" had me fuming angry. I made a very lengthy and nasty post in response to it but then opted to not bother acknowledging it. Thank you for saying something on my behalf.

As for the directory the directory is correct as per the error message:

Notice: Undefined variable: boarddir in /home/demonae/public_html/forum/index.php on line 55

Notice: Undefined variable: sourcedir in /home/demonae/public_html/forum/index.php on line 59

Warning: require_once(/QueryString.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/demonae/public_html/forum/index.php on line 59

What puzzles me is that I can log in and see the SQL database but when I try to run my repair tool from SMF it says that it can not connect to the SQL.

The SMF tool is asking for this but it cannot connect to the database (it keeps saying there is a problem with the connection settings:

MySQL Database Info

This is the server, username, password, and database for your MySQL server.
MySQL server: Recommended value: "localhost".
MySQL database name:
MySQL username:
MySQL password:
MySQL table prefix:
MySQL connection type: " Standard (recommended) / Persistent (might cause problems)So, I have all my values:

i double checked my database name using phpadmin

username/password is same as I always use (triple checked this)

double checked my database prefixes I tried with and without adding a " _ " underscore after it. I can see the database with phpadmin and verified it.

tried standard & persistent
