Web Disk Disabled ?

I asked about webdisk during the server move and was told it would be back after the move was completed. but I just read here

...that it is going to be permanently disabled due to abuse ??

My ISP blocks FTP and I'm stuck on dialup so using the cpanel is more than a pain

Could someone please confirm whether the webdisk function is permenatly disabled, and how it would be possible to "abuse" it ??

If it's been abused by some users then penalise those users, not those who rely on it and use it responsibly.

Hello, web disk has been disabled for many many months. As far as i know, it's going to be disabled permanently. Also, file manager inside cPanel is no more resource consuming than web disk.

The abuse would be some have it constantly connected, and possibly use it as a permanent disk drive in their system, and thus using resources all the time and not only when they need to upload/download files.

The decision to disable WebDisk was not entirely made due to some abusing the service, but rather due to it requiring more resources then ftp for instance, thus causing more stress on the servers if many use it at the same time.

For now it is disabled and will remain in that state for the time being.
