Resolved website http Error 500

Hi,

i recently noticed my website responds with a http error 500, any ideas why?
Cpanel took a while to load but did eventually and no errors shown for domain
http://emmaslittlegigglers.x10.bz/

anyway to check if the host is up and healthy?
no changes have been made to the configuration since it was last checked and working

One of the more common reasons for a http error 500 is due to php version.

All accounts are by default put on 7.2 after the migration to DirectAdmin.

If you rely on an extension that is not part of the default setup, or are using the older mysql extension that has been replaced by mysqli and PDO as of php 7.0, you would need to change the php version. You can do that under "Extra Features"

Error log can be found under "System Info & Files" (if you haven't found it) and would not be present in the domain folder itself as it was with cPanel.

thanks, i have checked the PHP versions and changing between them doesnt seem to resolve (its a standard wordpress site/install), i did however find the logs you refer to and i can see these lines, could there be something with the domain forwarding have changed?

I did find the problem, your index.php (from wordpress install) had been modified, not quite sure how though. I took a working copy and replaced the modified one and now your site works.

However, it might be wise to replace all wordpress files with a fresh set in case there are more that are modified in some manner.

I'll also ask our expert on such things to see if it is possible anyone else gained access or if it simply was something that happened in transit. Did you see it working after migrations (any time after January 18th) or is now the first time you check the site since we did the migrations?

hi

thanks for investigating, ive just checked, it went offline almost exactly a month ago according to my records (why i didnt spot it earlier i dont know!)
Emmas Little Gigglers did not load when Jetpack last checked it on Friday, March 6, 1:56 pm.

so it was working after the 18th but then went down, it does look like somehow its been compromised as i can see file edits so i'll make sure i replace all files ASAP

thanks for your help identifying it!

sorry to be a pain, i started to do a fresh install and now i cant even access the directAdmin panel, after logging into to the first page i get a terminated connection. Any chance i have been flagged as rogue activity?

I found your IP in the firewall, blocked due to: Failed SSH login

I have removed the block.

SSH is not available for free hosting, I know that the port (22) is also used for the sftp protocol but with SSH not being available using that will cause a login failure.

Please use normal ftp protocols.

thanks, entirely my fault that one ;-) i am now in and have started a re upload via FTP, thanks for all your help today! great support.
