Was x10hosting an at home project or was it hosted in a company building? I think it was an at home project because by the sounds of all the admins and mods they sound like they are at home.

But what do I know I'm just a 13 year old kid.

Discuss your opinion below.

x10Hosting is a volunteer-run company, all the staff work from home and are paid with free paid hosting accounts when they reach the account manager position, moderators and senior moderators aren't paid (I just get the good warm feeling for helping out ;)). It doesn't make a profit from the paid hosting, all the cash goes straight back into the free hosting services and keeping the servers online and running. The servers are all hosted in SoftLayer datacentres, don't ask which servers are where because I don't know.

Corey was the generous bloke that started the whole thing off, paying for all the servers out of his own cash until the service starting paying for itself. Exactly how many paid and free users there are I don't know, but that's the basics.

I see I see. So can we normal members apply for a job too? Just wanted to know cause it sounds like fun and I like to volunteer for anything.

Unrelated to the topic: I still haven't gotten the code for the point and bank system.

Yes they can by filling in this form, but I wouldn't advise trying to apply unless you've been with us a month or two and have at least 100 posts. We need to make sure you're active enough before you get recruited.

You can find that link under the 'Navigation' section in the sidebar of every page, click 'Quick Links' to bring up the popup menu, then choose 'Apply To Be a Moderator'.

I used to know which servers were where, but I lost the file where that info was stored. But I think 6 servers (Absolut, Cossacks, Stoli, Ciroc, Skyy and Vox) are in one place, and 2 others (Lotus and Cirrus) are elsewhere. I think one group is in Dallas and the other is in Washington. But I'm not sure.
All the servers are provided by a company called Softlayer.

As Luke said, all the staff are volunteers and work from home (Or their office). We don't not get paid, but we do get free paid hosting once we reach Account Manager.

That's cool! I thought x10Hosting got profits from the ad-enhanced and paid plans. :)

Hi,

The ad-enhanced plan is a free plan it just requires ads to be placed on every website that is hosted.X10 also makes money from people paying for the different V.I.P plans.

The server are in Dallas, Texas. The power of a trace route can do wonders ^__^.

Lotus is the paid server I believe, Cirroc is x10's corporate server which this site is on.

A list of all our servers and their current system status can be found here. I've made it clear what all servers do on there. And yeah, it took ages to find and type up all the subdomains and port numbers.

Um I have question, Luke. On box number 2 to where the questions are, "What would you bring to the role which currently doesn't exist?", do you mean community?

Yes, what you would bring to the forum community which isn't already there. Strange way to phrase it really, but that's my interpretation.

This thread is going a bit off-topic now, and the original question has been answered several times so I'm going to close this thread now.
