Can anyone please give me STEP-BY-STEP instructions for uploading my website? Up to now I have had two instructions,

1)
Upload to public_html

2)
Upload to /

Neither of which have worked.

I think that the instructions should be included in the forum, for newbies like me. In fact they should be at the TOP of an FAQ. list. I have tried everyuthing I can think of to get my site in the correct place, but up until now I have had NO luck.

If you are using the cPanel x3 theme (not x10 Basic), you can click "Getting Started Wizard" and "Video Tutorials" - near the top on cPanel's home screen - to see some tips on where to put your files

Thanks for your reply, I am using FileZilla. I tried a search for what you said, but when I put in "where do I upload my files to", or "how to", in the support section, it doesn't say anything about wiki. All it says is "do", "to", "where", are not searched for as they are too common. I still think there should be more info on where to go, to find out what?

Only files living in public_html (or its alias, www) and its subdirectories are accessible directly from the web. Your website's root directory is public_html; other files are only accessible via the file system (FTP and the cPanel file magagers can get to them; PHP scripts can call/include them because it uses the file system rather than a URL).

Please note, though, that the "coming soon" page is extremely "sticky" from a cache perspective; if it's in your browser's local cache, you'll need to purge it manually (by clearing your history entry and cache) before you can see your site.

my question has nothing to do with the "to do" list, it is the results I get when the search I have entered has "TO", "DO", and "WHERE" in the question for which I am searching for answers. So if you can do me a very big favour? PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE MESSAGE, BEFORE REPLYING. Thankyou

I answered your question directly and made no mention of searching whatsoever. How about trying what I gave you? And don't be too very surprised if, with that sort of outburst, people are a little reluctant to help you in the future.

essellar did read your question and gave you the answer for it

It is you that should read

you will not read a Wiki

you will not use the cPanel Tutorials

But you will demand the forum format be changed to your liking

I for one - I am sure others have also - added you nick to the Ignore List
